Engine Knock
Hey fellas
One of MY T/As began to knock slightly.
I have no Idea because I dont drive this one,
It could be anything from a rod bearing to lifters
So I turn to you guys..
Block Idles smooth, but hesistates when
engines cranking to start up.
I punch the gas and a abrupt knocking is
comming from the top of the block on
the drivers side.
It sounded like the power steering pump
(thats the area the noise is most prevelant)
Any ideas? .. You could never tell anything was wrong
with this car when its idling in front of you.

Vavle train "knock" is a tippity tappity, as is an exhaust leak.
Engine knock (detonation) is a pinging, like marbles in a coffee can if you will.
Rod knock (spun bearing) is a dull thunking noise. Will result in lower oil pressure.
Which best destcribes your situation?

I cant say its a dull sounding noise.
its very repitious, and comes from the front of the
engine .. So it maybe the valve train.
I cant drive the car either ..cuz I pulled the belt off it
to see if it wasnt anything with the acessories.
So I can only have it run for minutes at a time.
