ODB, question on TFS heads.>>>>>>

Thanks for the followup on my question in the carb section about your Trick Flow heads on your 383. But why do you like the performance but say they are a pain in the ****? I may soon be swapping over to aluminum heads to help on my compression some, and was considering them. But not if they are not worth the $900.

Thanks in advance for anyone's input.

they are worth $900 for sure.

The inline valve heads shouldn't be any more problem than any other aluminum head,
but the twisted wedge or canted valve heads are a pain to work with.
Fly cutting pistons, setting up different length pushrods for intake & exhaust for proper valvetrain geometry, and helicoiling all the bolt/plug holes.... just some of the issues you'll have to deal with.

As far as function & power once they are all set up, they work great. The TFS street heads are a great high velocity port design that does NOT require a long duration camshaft to make big power numbers. That means great drivability and great top end performance as well.

Thanks! So they Trick Flow 23 degree heads in Summit, pat # TFS-30400002 would work without modifications?
If so, that may be worth the $925.
