Just changed oil after initial break-in-->

Got a question for you guys, I just changed the oil on the new motor after the cam break-in. After removing the filter I watched it drain and saw alot of tiny bronze specs in the oil. Obviously these are from the bearings, should I be concerned or is it fairly normal. The reason I ask is because this motor already ate up a thrust bearing (after a mere 4K miles) last year before being rebuilt.

Thanks,
James

sorry, but i don't think that is normal. i didn't see any of that crap in my oil after break in. why did it eat the thrust bearing? if you didn't fix the problem, it may be doing it again.

my question is what was the thrust clearance? it should be between .002 and .006, did you check it? did you check the crank for run out? did you check the bearing surface in the block and caps fpr out of flat? have the block alighned honed? if all of that is good i don't have any idea what your problem maybe.

Bronze or copper?
Do you have a bronze distributor gear?

The block was align honed and a new cast crank was put in. The endplay of the crank was .005

Nobody that I talked to after it ate the thrust bearing the first time could give me a diffinative answer as to why it happened. The shop that did the machine work the second time didn't even know.
