0-60 firebird specs

i can't find any (reliable?) 0-60 specs. i've found this website:

http://members.***.net/iroczdave1/IR...nfo%20Page.htm

wich lists several specs, but i don't think these are very acurate.. i mean, the 87 shows the following:

Performance times: 0 to 60 mph @ 6.8 seconds, 15.10 seconds @ 92 mph (quarter-mile)
Engine: 5.7L TPI V8

well. this bird, 5.7 v8 weighs aprox 1500 kg, and it would do 0-60 in 6.8 seconds...that sounds just too good to be true, 220 bhp aint that much, so how the hell can it push 1500 kg to 60 mph in nearly 7 seconds...if that's true, i'm gonna get myself a 5.7 87..

how reliable is this information and does anyone else have info on this?

asking this because i'm still thinking of what stock firebird i should get. I don't want gfx, it would need t-tops and an automatic trans. What would be the fastest stock car? Since i live in the Netherlands, a swap would be hard, very few company's are willing to do it, and it probably would be like hell to get it street legal.

TPIs were a torque motor. My 90 350 TPI only made 211 rwhp but it made 313 rwtq that's without a cam swap even.

I use to play with my little g-tech pro meter to measure the 0-60 time once and awhile... I eventually got it down to around 5.0 seconds (MSD, shift kit, exhaust, air filter, spark plug wires, coil, SFCs, LCAs, Brackets... etc). Course I was back up around 6.0 seconds after I went to 9.5" ACT torque converter from the excess spin and slipping.

You can see a decent improve putting on headers and catback system. Sub Frames and brackets help out a ton too so you can roll into the throttle a little faster without spinning.

Over the years things did change... V belts to serpentine... Mass air flow to speed density. Single CAT exhaust to Dual CAT. No matter how much you tell yourself you're gonna keep it stock you'll go to a filter... then to exhaust... next thing you know you're building a 500+ HP motor in your bedroom.

It'll do much better than that. When new they were tested at 6.2s 0-60 and 14.5 1/4 mile in '87. Yea 220hp isn't much but 330 ft lbs of torque is a lot.

so these ratings are quite acurate?

You know, here in the Netherlands, these car's aren't widely available, so i'll really have to search for a looong while and hope to find one in descent shape. I'm no mechanic so i'll have to have some company do any modifications. And because i don't have any knowhow, i don't plan on doing an engineswap. I just think that wouldn't work out. It's not an everyday job here, i'd have to go to a cardealer and ask, most probably won't do it. And if i find one..it will cost way too much.

If there are stock car's that do 0-60 in 6 seconds, that would be fast enough for me. I probably will get myself another exaust system and do other small modifications in time but let's start with defining what car i should get, keeping in consideration that it has to be an auto wit t-tops...

so a 87 350 iroc is 1 option..any cars without gfx with these performance ratings?

Yea, a formula 350 would be the only one w/o gfx. If the car has been maintained to specs it should still pull those numbers.

so that would be a 92 formula, 5,7 350 pulling 245 bhp...that's even more than the one i mentioned above...according to the techdata section here.. so that should run about 6 seconds or so..gonna try and find myself one of those..might need to import one though.. cause the change i'll find one like this are pretty small... 90-92, t-tops, auto tranny, 5,7 350 and formula..245, that must feel good

yup..al those 4 bangers here..all tiny, light and most of em are ugly. I recently saw one at a local computershop..was a 91-92, it looks very wide, low and powerful compared to the other cars there. I've seen about 3 in total :S
