Questions about swapping a 87 GTA 140MPH cluster into an 83 Firebird

Okay I just got the gauge cluster I bought online. It looks freaking sweet, and it wil bolt in fine. I already know how to convert to the electronic speedometer, also. I will need to replace my temperature and oil pressure sending units, too. But I was looking at my spare 83 gauge cluster, and the wiring o nthe back is way different. The plugs line up fine, but I traced all 28 'pins' on the back of the new one, and only a couple are the same function as the 83. Can I replace the wiring harness which goes to the cluster itself? I will replace the whole dash if i have to, because I like the 85-92 style better anyways. Plus I really like these gauges! Please give me any helpful information.
