302 power pack heads?

a friend of mine says he has a set of power pack heads from a 67-69 camaro. i was wondering if these would be compatible or worth putting on, with my '79 4 bolt 350?

also the valves a ground out to 2.02

Casting numbers tell all.

I'm pretty sure that they won't have the accessory bolt holes. I'm not sure they even are "compatable" with 'our' (more modern) pump gas.

I'd pass. They are old OLD technology.

Really depends on what the castings are, and Stekman is right they probably wont have accessory holes if they are 302 heads. However if they do have accessory holes and you have smogger heads I would get them because compared to the smogger heads of the 70's and 80's they are like comparing vortecs to L98's. So if they will work I would get them if they are cheap.

Just because they are "302 heads", that doesn't mean jack. The same heads were used on the 302, 327, and the 350.

And if its a set from a '69, then they likely would have bolt holes. '68 possibly, but definitely for '69.

power pac heads were used on 283s never 302s. at any rate there are a lot better heads to be used on a SBC than something that's 30 years old.

Axle/Gears: ones that turn.
If you can get them cheaply enough, put them on eBay - some restorer or 'old school' guy might grab them up. Then put that money into something better...

As I recall, PowerPac heads had the spike casting mark, and were rather unremarkable. 1.94/1.5 valves. Not considered hi-po by the late 60s. I think these heads were on Impalas and mom and pop motors. The 60s era hi-po heads had the double hump casting mark.

As far as I recall, the 302 was only used on the Z28s up thru 69. Those were high compression, solid lifter performance engines and used the double hump 2.02/1.60 heads.

A friend of minde had a 68 Z28 back then. He had 4.11 rear gears and that thing would jump.

The old 302 was only used in the Z/28 Camaro, from '67-69. It had forged pistons, 11:1 CR, and a slid lifter cam.

It had double hump heads with 2.02/1.60 valves, screw-in rocker studs and guideplates. IIRC, the castings were 186s.

These heads were also used on the high performance 350s like the LT-1 (350 - 370hp) and 327s like the Fuelie 327 (327 - 375hp)
