cooling problem

Ok check this out..Today I was foolin with my car and i was letting it idle and reving it up...Well my temp went up slowly to over 260...but my radiator and radiator cap were cool as the other side of the pillow....What's up with this??? I just replaced the thermostat a week ago...I am pretty sure it's flowing coolant because it's kinda leakin from around the thermostat housing...i have replaced the radiator hoses also...what's goin on here????

Could be a stuck thermostat or installed upside-down. Maybe it's kinda leaking at that point because it has nowhere to go.

Maybe you have a blockage somewhere else. Heater core or hoses leading there, also check the coolant reservoir hose. Sometimes all the gunk in there collects on the bottom and can plug up that hose, so your coolant level is incorrect.

BTW, I bought a NAPAthermostat for my truck at it was junk right out of the box. Put it in a pot of water and let it boil, then grab it out with a pliers or something and make sure it opens. Real easy way to test it.

Although most water pumps seem to leak out of that weep hole when they go bad, not all do. I had a similar problem on a Nova once, replaced the thermostat, the hoses, the radiator. Still ran hot. My dad said water pump! I didn't believe him till I had nothing else to change. It was the water pump. No, or not enough flow, even though it never leaked a drop. I'm not saying change it, but keep it in mind if all else fails.
