Cost to rebuild L98 into allforged 383 built for ATI D-1SC???

Just wondered what it would cost to rebuild the old L98 into an all forged short block 383 for use w/ a supercharger? Just the cost of parts and labor and everything for the short block.

just a WAG but i'll say 5000 at least. forged parts aren't cheap, plus machine work on top of that. sounds like a great project if you have the time and money.

If you want it built for under ~600HP then you're looking at about $2000-2500 for the bottom end done right, and that's reusing your block and a few other parts like the balancer, flexplate and other odds-n-ends. Cam would not be included in that and you will want to use something other than the stock cam if you are building for serious horsepower, obviously.

I figured I spent about $4000 in my shortblock not including the balancer and flexplate. That was a 2-piece block but should be about the same. I have a lightweight Cola 4340 forged crank, Eagle 3-D H-beam 6" rods, JE/SRP pistons, Total seal rings and had Milodon splayed 4-bolt caps installed. can't get much stouter than that unless you go bowtie or Dart.
