There's a poncho engine sitting in my friends garage thats in pieces. He was told the heads were off of a 455, but i was told when i got the engine that its a 400. my firebird came with a 400, and thats what they said this one was, but who knows. My question is, is there any way to really tell which it is besides the casting #? its on the bottom, and its too heavy for us to flip over and see. Thanks guys.

It should be stamped on the back of the engine where it conects to the tramsmition.
Either "6.5" or "6.6" liters. Look for these numbers. a 455 would be "7.5" liters.
