Car won't start...help!!!!!!!!!

Car won't start...help!!!!!!!!!
I had the steering column apart tightening up the loose tilt section. Put everything back together, and now it won't crank. Tried the remote start on the alarm system and she fired right up. Checked all the fuses, all ok. Pulled the plug-in apart coming from the ignition cylinder and checked with Ohm meter. Showed 1.5k Ohms. Pulled key out and it showed an open circuit. That I assume tells me that part of the system works. What am I missing???? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks....
