Another 3rd gen in the family "stable"

Well, since my brother's 87 GTA is out of commission waiting for the new 400 to be built, he bought ANOTHER 3rd gen!

85 Z-28 with the LG-4 305, 5 speed and 3.23 rear. If I had any idea how to paste a picture of it in this thread, I would. It's almost CHERRY on the outside and the interior is fine except for worn out seats. it has 150K miles.

Only had one problem when he bought it. The pass. side exhaust manifold had a stuck EFE valve (stuck closed) so it made no power over about 2000 RPMs. That's fixed and it burns the right rear pretty good now!

When have you EVER bought a car this old and found NOTHING wrong with it? Especially when you only pay $2000?? Yeah, he feels pretty lucky, too.

For now it's just his daily driver. But once the GTA is up and running I promised to buy it off of him for what he paid for it. Then it's mine!

Hmmmmm...........

What to do? What to do? I can't stop giggling. I have enought pieces laying around the basement and garage to build a complete 350.........

just bought 1990 iroc ttops auto 305tpi $2300 from squid going on deployment. needed wires and a tuneup. No wrecks needed paint.Matter a fact my buddy is painting it for me right now. The thing is a dream 79k on odometer and the interior is cherry except for dash(cracks) but got one out of junk yard for 50 bucks. Ive had it for 1 month ive driven it less than 50 miles because ive taken care of camshaft leak and oil pan leak, but for the first time i ve loved working on my own car. I just keep buying more and more parts.

That doesn't seem bad to me! I got my 84 Z about 4 years ago for 1900 with like 160,000 on it. I haven't been the same since!

I'm now planning to buy a 86 IROC that I sa today for $750. I think it's one we had in at the shop a while back, and it wouldn't hardly run, but the body was in decent shape. It would become my daily driver, most likely.

Working on:
'84 Z28 LG4 305 with 200,000 original miles!
Added dual elec fans.
145 MPH IROC Speedo
Building 430 HP 350 (ZZ430)
using primarily GMPP parts.
Short block sitting on a stand. (Man, those Fast-Burn heads sitting on it look good!)

Starting to look like the Kicker poster child!

Yeah, I got my 85 SC w/ Auto and LG4 for 1400, All that was wrong was a broken tranny mount, and busted driver side door handle on the inside.

Ive really fallen in love with this car. The only Reason I get frustrated working on It, Is because I would rather be driving it!

I got mine for 1300, all it needed was a tuneup, waterpump, and a radiator. Body is straight, the paintjob the guy did isn't -that- great, but once I get some time to compound and polish it and pull an itty-bitty dent out of the pass side door it'll be f'ing beautiful. (Except for the fact that it's a slow ****).

2K for a Z-28 is awesome though, grats on the buy :-P

Mods:
Removed air baffles

Maintenance since I bought it:
Bosch Platinum Plugs, Radiator, Water Pump, PCV, fluids and filters

143K and 'The Beast' is still running strong

Well, I got my 1987 305TPI 5 speed IROC for 1500. The body is absolutly amazing and in great shape and it has every option except leather, 105000 miles but it has mechanical problems such as...

1) Seized 305 (Don't know what seized though)
2) Need to readjust the 5th gear shift arm.
I will post a pic soon and you will agree with me about the body.
