oil pump question

I bought a summit oil pump which I think is a M55 pump anyways but my question is the intermeidate shaft that came with it has a steel sleeve. Does it just sit onto the pump shaft cause it really doesn't stay on there real good. Im trying to assemble my engine and wondering how I can keep it from falling out when the engine is flipped over.

It won't fall out, don't worry. The sleeve will get caught on the hole in the main cap that it goes through. It can't even move far enough to allow the drive to disengage. It's designed that way.

RB beat me to it, but that is correct. It won't go anywhere.
