TECH assistance need!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is an 89 2.8 RS
Guys, I really need an answer to this. My car needed a new ignition module because it had no spark, I did that and now theres spark, but while the car wasn't running I changed the distributor cap and rotor, but I'm not sure if I put all the wires in the right place.
So I changed the distributor cap and rotor, put the new ignition module in and it started, it idled rough and when I put it into reverse and pushed the peddle it got more rough and sounded like it was going to stall, so I shut it off and figured I put the wires on incorrectly from this reaction, so I moved some around to where I thought I might have made a mistake and then it wouldn't start. I didn't know where the wires should have went since I rearanged them some, so I did a search on the V6 board telling u where the wires should go and something about the rotor having to line up and harmonic balancer BS. I put them where they said to and it still won't start. Some1 has to know, I need this car to start, thanks guys!!

Im not into V6's so...
You need to know the firing order, and how that is arranged on the cap. Make sure the wires are on right, thats step 1.
Step 2 is to make sure your timing is set right, it could very well be off even though you didnt change it (at least I am assuming you didnt).

I've already did that stuff and I didn't adjust the timing, read my post on the V6 board also.

How could the timing just go and adjust itself?? It started and now it won't, when I crank for a while there is a sound and a line comes right off of the plenum.

If you didn't move the distributor, I don't think that the timing is off. I'll give you some suggestions. Some of the stuff you've probably already have done, so please don't think I'm trying to insult your inteligence.
If you've got a repair manual, such as Haynes, the firing order and the numbered cylinders are shown. The V6 is different from the V8 in that the number 1 cylinder is the very-front cylinder on the passenger side. So, cylinders 1,3,5 are on the passenger side. Cylinders 2,4,6 are on the drivers side (2 being the front cylinder).
The firing order for the V6 is 1-2-3-4-5-6.
The rotor in the distributor moves clockwise. I don't have a scanner, so I'll try to draw the distributor wire terminal.
3 4
Distributor: 2 5
1 6
front
cylinders: 5 6
3 4
1 2
front of engine
Now, If you(or anyone) have moved the distributor, then the illustration above will be a little different than what your distributor looks like.
If everything checks out, here are some other possibilities that could be the problem.
1. Look inside each plug wire boot to see if the metal connectors are still attached to the wire. They can tear apart inside the boot, and you may not realize it. You can check with a small screw driver(with the ignition off. I know. Duh!!!)
2. Make sure the plug wires snap securely on the distributor terminal and spark plug. If ones a little loose on the plug, it may not fire.
That's about all I can think of right now. Hope I have been of some help.

The number illustrations didn't show up right (the way I typed them in),it pulled everything to the left of the screen. So I'll try another way.
This illustration should be round(like the distributor).
Distributor:
---3-4
--2---5
---1-6
front
(the dashes don't mean anything).
Cylinders:
5---6
3---4
1---2
front of engine.
Let's hope this comes out right.

I just saw your message, that you got her started. I guess you can disregard my last post. I'm glad everything worked out for you. There's nothing quite like the feeling of when the car finally fires up after a lot of headaches, right?
I'd put a smillie face here but I don't know how to post it. haha
