Dont know what the problem is, . . . Help

Ok so let me give you all some background

I Drive a '91 305TBI and for the past week or so when ive cranked up my car, it sounds like it was having a hard time getting started like the battery was dying, but it would still start.

So last night i tried to start it and she wouldnt turn over. then i waited a few secs and it wouldn't turn again. So i wait a little bit and tried again and it wouldnt even start to turn over it just made a weird clicking or knocking type noise. So then i tried to jump it off a friends car and the clicking noise just kept on getting worse. I tried to jump it about 3 times before i gave up and called a tow truck guy.

So I just figured it was the starter becuase it couldnt be the alternator, i just changed that a few months ago, besides the battery was recharging just fine. and i also did a full tune up and changed the rotor and dist. cap about a month ago. So i pulled out the starter and went to the parts place to have it checked and they said it was fine. So now i dont know what it is, im thinking maybe the ignition switch or something along those lines.

The noise it makes is like a repetative clicking sound.

If you know whats wrong, please help me and let me know how to fix it

thanks

Check your battery cable connections to the battery. When you find them to be corroded, clean them with a wire brush and baking soda & hot water.

Maybe time to replace the battery. If you another car, take the battery out and use it on your car.
