What's it gunna hurt??
My wife and I are driving down to Pensacola this weekend and she wants to take the convertable... cuz it's KoOl! I'm concerned this 325 mile drive might kill my car. The car: 90 IROC-Z with LT1 and T5 tranny, 3:73 rear. At 80 the car is hitting 3000 RPM's. Will the constant cruzing at 3K RPM's blow something or put excessive ware on the tranny/engine? Personally I'd like to take the car. But not at the cost of burning something out!
thanks.......

No, it won't burn anything out or put any excessive amount of ware and tear on the car. It all depends on how hard you drive the car.

I've had cars with 4.something gears that worked fine on the highway; like a 79 Z28 4-speed with 4.10s. I drove it on quite a few road trips. My 83 HO Z28 T-5 has 3.73 gears, and no telling how many highway miles. Most recently it went from Memphis to Denver, then to San Diego (2500 miles in 5 days).
It should be fine. Make sure the lower air dam is intact.
