taking out A/C

how should i probperly discharge the a/c canister and lines.....withour bringing it and hooking up to a evac. machine. can u just lossen the lines and let it bleed?

There's high-pressure in some of those lines, I'd be careful with that. What you should do, is take a .22 calibre rifle and a decent scope, and shoot it from a good distance.

You can just let it bleed. However, if you have R12 in those lines and if it's a substantial amount, you may get a refund. That stuff is expensive and the cost to pull it out should be resonable if you just have the freon pulled out--not the full vacuum service.

Seeing that it would be easier to take it out in pieces, can i just get the freon sucked out and be good to go?

I am still torn as to whether or not to take my ac out, it works fine, but i have not used it once. I guess the weight savings isnt that big of a deal because my car isnt fast in the first place, maybe i'll just wait until i build the real 400 for it (pontiac, 400 that is)
