If you want to get different heads I would get the Wold Products 305 heads, I've heard good things about them. Also the Vortec heads that GM makes flow well but you would need to buy a special intake for them. Most aftermarket heads are designed for the larger bore of a 350 or other engines and won't work well on a 305.
You also might want to look into working with your stock heads, I've had success with that. I had my heads ported, 3angle valve job, the bowls blended, and they are milled for more compression. I've managed to get my 305 down to a 13.4sec 1/4 mile with the stock bottom end with the mods in my signature.

JBENGE, with that cam how did your streatability react? Can you still drive the car daily and does it burn gas like a ****?
Your setup looks great and I'd love to get down into the 13's. How much did it cost to do the head work?
Thanks
Steve

The cam in combination with the 4.10 gear makes the car drink gas so I wouldn't recommend it for a daily driver but besides that its very reliable and streetable. The head work cost about $250 plus another $80 because I had the exhaust valves replaced with better flowing aftermarket ones. I had the heads tested on a flow bench before and after the work, it made a huge difference. And when I put the heads on the car I could definately tell a difference in throttle response so it was definately worth the effort.

What else was done to the heads ? Did you change valve sizes? What was the CR after the milling? 13.4 1/4 with a 305 I WANT THAT!!!!!!

I have the Vortec heads on the 305 I am building and other than milling them down to get the CR. I would recomend them to anybody and the valve size works well with the 305.

Do the WP heads. I ported my own 305 heads, and spent $460 on getting them reworked. I ended up running 101 MPH as well, but I dont think I have the correct torque converter. THe motor is a bit shy on torque below 3000 RPM, and my 60-foot times are still 2.05 to 2.1 seconds with virtually zero wheelspin.
I have many, many details about it on my website.
