Project 383 finally done I need help with part #'s.What size knock sensor?Thermostat?
Hi Guys I finally finished the 383. I wonder which knock sensor should I run. What size thermostat the 180 or a 160? I also put a set of 86 aluminum vette heads on it casting # 10088113 what size spark plugs? part number?
I am putting the engine in over the next few days and any help or advice you can give me will be much appreciated.
I would like the part numbers for the thermostat and knock sensors if any one knows them off hand.
Thanks guys.

Just reuse your stock knock sensor. I've replaced both 305s and 350s with 383 and 400 engines on several occasions. The knock sensor doesn't seem to care what sized block it's screwed into. Others may have differing opinions but I've done this a number of times and never had a problem (and the seonsor contiued to work correctly).
If in doubt on the thermosts you'll almost never go wrong with a 180* unit as a good starting point. Just go to the store and ask for a 180* stat for just about any year small block Chevy (regardless of engine displacement) and you'll get what you need. Fortunately, GM didn't mess around with the stat design on the small block Chevy very much.
For the 'Vette heads just get plugs that are spec'ed for a year of Corvette that used those heads. Pick a year- 1987-1991 Vettes used the same heads, I believe
