A friend of mine had hydrolocked his carbed 305 over the weekend. He took the plugs out and gas poured out of 4-5 cyl.'s so he cranked the engine over numerous amount of times, put plugs back in, started right up, and then it wont stay running, so he put it to the WOT position and it ran pretty good, then shuttered and locked up again. What seems to be the problem here? A new carb.?

 

If it really did hydrolock, the con rods are probably bent. Do a compression test and see what happens.
