Vette Aluminum Heads w/88 Serpentine Mounting

OK, here's my dilemma: I'm putting a nice '87 L98 with Alum heads into an '88 IROC (came with no motor/trans). So I've mounted the correct water pump, and the drivers side accessories. On the pass side, all but 1 of the mounting points lines up. The point that doesn't match is the uppermost point where the serpentine brackets mate to the cylinder head. Since the 'Vette alum heads don't have the hole, I have 2 options: Leave the bolt out and hope it's enough, or drill the hole and tap it.

What's the best way to fix my issue? Leave it? Drill it?

What ever you do, don't attempt to drill and tap it, there isn't enough metal to safely play with.

Yes there is ....been there done that!

Only drill it 5/8" deep then use a bottoming tap after the tapered tap.

Tapered tap? Bottoming tap? I only thought there was the one kind. What's the differences?

What size drill bit should I use to make the hole? Can I use the bracket as a guide for the hole?

a tapered tap would be used on a throught hole and a bottoming tap would be used to tap a hole that isn't drilled all the way through.the tapered tap will have a point on the end and the bottoming tap wil have a flat end.
