ASAP- 89 TTA Engine Fire- OK to Buy?

I have an opportunity to buy a slightly modded 89 TTA that had an engine fire for $2,500 locally (MN).

It is a rust free (TX) car with new trans, tires, etc. Body is good, except hood is warped a bit...fire was small and located at rear of engine compartment...

I am going to look at the car tomorrow morning and need to make a bid on the spot as I am first in line for the bid.

How tough will it be to re-do the wiring harness? Can I buy one aftermarket or will I have to mod a V6 or TPI harness? How about the dash wiring if I need it? Is it available?

I need to know by tomorrow morning...any input would be appreciated!

TIA

I found some info that it uses the GN computer...but no info on the wiring harness.

Additional questions...

1. Does it use GN accessories on the front?

2. Is the dash just a regular TA dash with a special guage cluster?

3. Anything else special about sensors, wiring, etc?

Anyone know???????????

TTA's use a TTA specific engine harness, I think you can still get NOS ones at John's Performance.
They started life as standard 305 GTA's so I don't think any other wiring is different.
They use a different serpentine belt than a GN (about a half inch shorter) so I think the accessories might be different but its probably just due to the different cylinder heads making the accessories closer together.
The air conditioning lines, headers, overflow tank heat reflector, intercooler and intercooler shroud are also TTA specific.
Most everything else is either a regular TA or can be replaced with a GN part.
Good Luck!

every once in a while I run across tta eng wiring harnesses ( about 200.00-600.00) depending on who's selling it and the demand I would fix the one it has (as long as it still looks like a harness)

Thanks very much for the replies...

I just looked at the car and the fire breached the windshield and melted a chunk of the dash/wiring inside the car. The insurance company geniuses also didn't cover the windshield and we have gotten a lot of rain over the last few days...

I think the owner will be parting it out...but he isn't sure yet. Maybe I can get some rust free body parts!

Thanks guys!
