Speedo ration adapter
I just changed the gears from 2.73's to 3.42's and bought one of these ratio adapters to get the speedo corrected.
Anybody have a pic of where the speedo cable comes into the transmission. I couldn't see anything real good.

I may be wrong here but I do believe that your speedometer is electronic and not cable driven. Did you change out the speedo drive gear and the speedo driven gear in the transmission when you swapped gears?

Just get the right drive & driven gears (driven has no shaft to it on your car) for a 3.42 or 3.45 rear A4 f-body. That adapter isn't gonna do anything for you since yours has a mechanically gear driven VSS. Your drive will be 15 or 17 tooth. IIRC, 15 is grey, 17 is red. If it needs changed, it's effort. If it's just the driven, it's cake.

WOW! Great moments in timing.
Just got my Chevy High Performance Magazine in the mail and it has an article about a thirdgen camaro that just went from 2.73's to 3.42's. They say it takes a grey 15 tooth drive gear and a yellow 41 tooth driven gear.
That explains it so even I can under stand it.

All you should need is the correct drive & driven gears. About a month ago we swapped the rears in my brothers 1989 T/A from 2.73's to 3.42's. I removed the tranny tailshaft housing and swapped the drive gear and pulled the vss sender and changed the driven gear. His speedo has been right on without a problem.

Also, I just read that article and they did mention something about 90-92 cars needing a "completely electronic" solution. You might want to look into it a little more in depth before ordering anything...

Again, if you search Tricksters posts, he posted scans from svc. manuals of a lot of the GM factory speedo gear combinations. Once you find those, buy the right tooth count gears, install them, done. Then the car will be setup 100% factory, everything will work as intended, the car won't be "hacked," and the cost is minimal.
Chevy High Performance probably has the wrong gear counts unless they went by GM specs. All online web based speedo gear calculators are wrong per GM installed gears.
The only annoying part about doing the gears is the fact that you have a torque arm. My cars don't. It's an easy job.

No he doesn't. He needs drive and driven gears. It's still a 4004 pulse per mile VSS setup that he needs whether he has 2.73 or 3.73 gears.
