oil coolers and lines?

well, gonna be stuffing the engine soon so another issue i'd like to address is the oil cooler... i have the factory cooler attached to the block, with the lines running under the eng to the other side. my problem with this set-up is that the "nipples" coming off the oil cooler are straight and the metal lines do not line up correctly. instead of being side by side like the cooler, they are upper/lower and connect to the cooler by a rubber hose splice. that's ok for one line, but the other is factory bent at about a 45* , so creates a real connection problem because the short splice is almost kinked because of it.

so my dilemna is to go back to original (which i'd prefer not to do), or possibly reroute the hoses by using all rubber, or possibly go with a different type cooler altogether. anybody else have any other ideas or applications?
