Storing car

Im still unemployed after 6 months and can no longer afford to drive my car. So Im going to put a cover over it and store it at my parents house and cancel the insurance until I am financially stable again.

If anyone has some things I need to do before storing it let me know.

Thats not a real grown up thing to post, IMO. Especially considering that you were given the proper advice. Every year there are a 100 threads just like this one started, and it gets covered every year. Normally I would do the search and post the results to show how easy it is, but I wont this time. And with your post, I wouldnt expect many other people to want to help you either.

Sarcastic people are not cool.
I tried search and came up with nothing.
I have seen plenty of boards on the internet that have a huge database of knowledge, but are dead with no posts because people just search and never start new threads.

Thats not sarcasm. This board has so many threads in its archive, that we have to keep from starting reduntant threads, simply for the preservation of resources. The thread archive here is HUGE, and you could honestly rebuild an entire thirdgen car, from headlights to rear end, and everything in-between, simply by searching for the topic needed. Thats why you hear a lot of "use the search" and etc. Not really sarcasm, just saving storage and bandwidth for new topics.

Well anyway like I said I have no job thanks to outsourcing to third world countries - so the camaro gets covered, locked, and insurance scrapped for at least a couple years. Most people talk about just storing for winter is why I asked.

I know that feeling all to well. I myself am in the IT industry, and we are hit hard right now by the whole overseas outsourcing. Just once I'd like to see one of these politicians do something about that.

I am storing a car for the winter and will use the search function to get tips. Thanks! But I have to respond in kind to the remarks regarding unemployment.

I haven't worked for a year. But I don't blame politicians. I somewhat blame the greedy corporate climate. I somewhat blame the terrorists. I somewhat blame Microsoft for their anti-competitive activities. But all in all this is not a depression and I am just as responsible for my condition because I have left my fate up to others(personal situation maybe not yours).

As for outsourcing, when you call a help line or get a call about a bill, don't talk to them. Communicate via mail. Don't buy from companies that outsource. Don't cooperate.

America is strong and will continue to be. Use your talents to start a small business, do something that you feel passion for. Do anything that you want to do. Work hard to get to work and you will succeed. This is the land of opportunity, not the land of government run business.

As long as skilled labor abroad remains cheaper then labor here in the us there will continue to be outsourcing. Why would a corporation thats only concerned with making money pay more to get the same result when they can pay someone in some developing country much less. And those contries are all too happy to accept the work as it helps thier economy mature. Unfortunatly, theres really nothing one can do to stop it as long as some monetary incentive to outsource remains.

Oh, and this thread has become so not tech.

Im sorry to reply with no tech info. However, these companies are not recieving the same results for the money. The support offered by these third world solutions is never on level with american support. The quality of service declines greatly. It will only be a matter of time before companies start to feel the impact of thier actions.

Guess that should have been 'percieved' results. It is interesting that when I was at college there where some indians there who where pretty much there to get an american education. Sort of like the enemy turning your own guns on you.

Another non-tech post. Ill have to ban myself

This is what I saw while I was in college. All over the place. Oh well I also met dudes from South America and France so like it matters anymore.

Back on topic - how often should I start and drive the car? Do I need to change the oil every 3 months still?
