Tune up questions

Would appreciate some tune-up advice. Car is 1992 convertible with 305 V8.

1. What plugs should I use?
2. Should I use OEM plug cables, distrib cap & rotor, or is Pep Boys OK? I know on my 280ZX only OEM caps & rotors would work right.

Also, I am getting some noise out of my stereo. Maybe I need special plugs and cables.

Thanks for any advice!
Brian

as far as tune ups go i just use AC delco plugs. and i use bog wanner 8 mm wires i dunno if the 92 had a HEI cap or not but if you do they sell kits for a new cap coil and rotor and wires for like 100 bucks for MSD or mallory.

Brian,

You should be fine with a wire set, Cap & Rotor, and plugs from a chain Auto Parts store such as Pep Boy's, Kragen, or Auto Zone. However, I strongly recommend using the Factory AC Delco sparkplugs that are listed in your owners manual or Tune-up sticker under the hood. They should carry AC Delco plugs. All the other parts can be aftermarket brands if you wish, which should save you some money. I've used their parts on my parents 1992 RS with LO3 305 V-8 and my 1987 Camaro SC with LG4 305 V-8 with great success.

You dont need 60 dollar plug wires, thats for sure. I would recommend getting a parts store set, 8mm. Be sure to get the cap and rotor with brass inserts.
