shaking like a mutter

Hey,

Just got a 87 Ta 5sp. I got this wicked vibration in the car. feels more like drivetrain then anything else. The shifter shakes quite a bit. It runs great drives streight. When I got the car it needed a clutch so I don't know if the shake was there before. When doing hte clutch I also had the flywheel turned. Everything went together good so I don't think it is in the clutch. I put new u joints in also. any ideas??

You probably have a loose tranny mount... go back and tighten them again. the shifter on my truck used to do the same thing, then i had to replace the clutch, and the tightening of the tranny mounts and torque arm made that go away, smooth as a whistle now.

when you did the clutch, did you check and double check that you torqued everything right, and evenly? If the flywheel was torqued unevenly then that would cause the problem. Or it could be a loose driveshaft bolt. Just go back and re-tighten all the things that are easily accessible that you touched during the clutch install (that you dont have to take the tranny out for). If the problem persists then I'd slip the tranny back 2 inches and re-torque your flywheel.

Went through everything again from flywheel back nothing there. I took it out trying diffrent things to see when it is worst. I get it mostly when it is under a load. like going up a incline but if I drop it down a gear and bring the rpm up over 2500 it is not to bad. on the highway in 5th at about 1500 it is shakes pretty good and if I give it gas from there it gets worse but if I drop it down to get the rpms up it is not that bad. something with the whay it is running?? seems to idel good no vibration when reving it up. maybe a tune up??
