Roller lifter conversion for older block.

I'm new here, don't know if intros are in order. I am running a gen I front clip and motor in my F-1 pickup.

I want to convert my older 350 block to roller hydraulic lifters. I can buy a conversion kit from Comp Cams at about $600. I am interested in knowing if anyone out there has done this.

Also, I have heard that it may be possible to use roller lifters from 3.0-3.8 V6 motors and a bridge from a 305. Do any of you know about this?

My motor is an early 70's block, now modified to 383. I have burned up one cam early in its career and would like to go to the roller to avoid break-in problems and to get quieter operation.

Will the roller hydraulics be too heavy to support a Comp Cams XE268H style grind with its steeper than stock ramps? How about springs with the heavier rollers?

Any comments you have will be appreciated.

Thanks, F-1

Yes it can be done.

Yes it has been done, many many times.

Yes you can get one as small as a XE268; yes there are springs that go with such things. Just use the ones that go with whatever cam you pick. For example http://www.compcams.com/Technical/Cu...ML/128-169.asp scroll down to page 138.
