idel problems
I just purchased a 85 Z-28 305 carb car with only 26 K auto,yes it's actual miles black with pimp red interior. any way the car has sat for the last 3 years so I drained the gas put new in I would not start I noticed two plug wires were broken so I replaced them and took the cap off it was perfect inside rotor looked good also so It started after that and runs great on the road but it will not idel correctly I have gone throught 3 tanks of 93 so it's not fuel. It will idel at about 600 rpm for a few seconds then jump to about 1200 them back to 600 just back and forth real fast and it is super annoying also at low speed cruise you can feel it buck some;
Also the turn signal, when on the battey gauge jumps around stops when turn signal goes off (ground maybe) All help is great Thanks, Jason

If the car sat for 3 years,try new carb or rebuild old one,thats along time for something to sit and not be touched.Also check for brittle wires on the module and coil,they can be breaking down.
Also, replace all the vacuum line. It's really cheap, and can help your idle problem, which does indicate a vacuum leak.

About that turn signal thing - mine does that too. I have replaced all the starting/charging system components (for other reasons) and still does it. It also seems like the in dash voltage guage always reads lower than my handheld DVM. I think it's because the entire cluster runs off of the same supply line and the turn indicators use up just a little bit of voltage, enough to make the needle move. At least that's my working thoery.
I am considering/ working on ways around this.
