Rev limit?
hey i gotta 1984 pontiac trans am with the L-69 305 HO
and i was wondering how high could i rev it like when im shifting and still not break anything?

With a basically stock L69 in good condition you should be able to safely shift at 5,000 RPM, but the torque at that RPM will have fallen off to the point where you should have shifted long before that.
Considering the flare on shift and the factory cam and valve springs, their red-line of 5,200 RPM is pretty accurate for repeated use. You might be able to get away with a few excursions into higher RPM ranges, or you might send rods through the case at lower RPM. It is highly variable depending on the condition of the engine and load at a given RPM.
