Why does my guage max out whenever I hook up the sensor?

Why does my guage max out whenever I hook up the sensor?
I'm installing a tranny temp sensor and everything i attach it to the sensor the needle B lines to the 250 mark. If even moves the 250 mark if i put the ground wire to it.

You're attaching the power line to the guage instead of the sensor. Take a better look at the wiring diagram that came with the guage.
