Heads, Cam and Intake questions.....
Heads, Cam and Intake questions.....
Well, looks like I am getting back into the F-body scene. After owning both a L98 Formula 350 and a 99 LS1 Ram Air TA, I am going to purchase a 82 Camaro.
It is my buddies car. It has a 350 of unknown year and the rest of the drivetrain is from a 88 Formula 350.
I don't know what carb and intake are on it now. I do know a lot about these cars but with so many heads, cams and intakes out now, I figured I would ask here first.
Since I can get killer deals on GM Performance parts, I am leaning towards Vortech Iron heads and Intake. Since the Fast Burn heads really don't flow much more than the Iron heads, and they are cheaper, the Iron's I feel are the best way to go. I will go with either the Air Gap or RPM manifold or a GMPP manifold. I would like to go with long tube headers also.
As far as a carb goes, I was thinking 650 or 750 Demon.
If anyone has any head suggestions or anything else, please contribute. The car will eventually be a track car, but I would like to get it up and running well.
If you have carb/head/cam combo that worked well, please let me know. Thanks.
Chris

I would try to decide what rear gear your going to end up with. Everything revolves around that.
If your going to keep it about 3.70, I would go with the AFR-CompXR282hydroller-Airgap-650mechanical secondaries route. You can't go wrong with that.

Car: yy wife, crazy.
Engine: 350, Vortecs, 650DP
Transmission: TH-350
Axle/Gears: 8.5", 3.42
Not too sound like an a--hole. But it's Vortec, no "h".
As far as carbs, you should go with the Barry Grant Road Demon. It's a 625cfm that is very efficient. More streetable. It has an all billet base, billet metering blocks, and the venturies have no casting ridge. Most people have to polish a Holley to get rid of the ridge. Holley's parts are all cast. Not bad, just out o' date. BGs run about $300. But yea, go Demon.
