Wiring inside fuel tank

I'm putting a Walbro fuel pump in my tank and need to splice the wires. what is the safest way to do this? I would hate to blow myself up.

why do you need to splice any wires with this Walpro pump?i have a Walpro and it was a plug and play deal.
