oil pump pressure spring replacement ?
just an "oh, by-the -way" question here - when replacing the pressure spring in the oil pump, i noticed that the pump's original spring was "spread" at the end where the pin goes through to retain it, and was wondering if anyone does that same thing when installing a new one, or just leaves the replacement spring "as is". i don't see any way it could possibly come out, but just wondered if anyone else does that...

I've always just installed the spring as-is. First motor I used the high volume pump and installed the high pressure spring. Carried 60-75psi at start up and 50 at an idle.
This motor I just ran the spring that came in the pump and discarded the high pressure spring. 75psi at start up and 30 psi when hot. Carries plenty of pressure as soon as rpms come up.

i left mine as is, too. was just wondering cuz inquiring minds wanna know. when i see something different, i like to ask cuz you never know when someone has a better way of doing something... my oil system's already buttoned up and filled with oil anyways, i really don't know what made me even think about it...
