DIACOM+

I have a diacom + ,I dont under stand how to use the graf proply .Under options there is a Frame pre-store cache ranging from 1 to 50 ,can you explain how this should be used.

Hi rs,

Welcome to the boards.

The "Frame Pre-Store Cache" that you are referring to is simply as stated.

First off, as you probably already know, Diacom Plus works in "Real Time" mode while you're hooked up to your vehicle. It simply displays engine parameters as they happen.

Now, when you start actually recording data, the recorded info is represented in "Frames". The Frame Pre-Store Cache is the amount of frames Diacom will save onto your recording PRIOR to when the recording session was actually initiated.

Here is an example:

Let's say that your Frame Pre-Store Cache is set to 16.

When you start a recording session, the instant you start it, Diacom lables that instant as frame zero.

When you look back on your recording (be it through the graphing option or just on the parameter screen), you will notice that the recording goes from -16 -15 -14 -13 -12 -11 -10 -9 -8 -7 -6 -5 -4 -3 -2 -1 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 etc. etc. on up to the end of your recording which can be in the thousands of frames. Notice the 16 PRE STORED frames?

What diacom did here in this example is start recording the information 16 frames BEFORE you actually initiated a recording session. This is especially helpful if your "Trigger Source" (which is in the options setting just like the Pre-Store Cache is), is set to "Trouble code". This allows Diacom to present you with data before the trouble code initiated the recording session.

The Frame Pre-Store Cache is factory set at 16. I left mine where it was factory set. I also have my "trigger" set to Space Bar only. The reason I personally didn't set it to "T-Code/Space Bar" is because if I do indeed have a trouble code while I'm displaying real time info on the screen, a trouble code indicator will flash on the screen alerting me to the fact, and THEN I'll initiate the recording myself.

If you have a problem with intermittant trouble codes, the T-Code Trigger combined with the Frame Pre-Store Cache is great because you can peg exactly when the trouble code occured through an automatic trouble code activated recording session, and you don't need to worry about catching pesky trouble code information that just flashes on the screen for a couple seconds.


When I first got my Diacom Plus, I didn't know how in hell I was going to learn how to use everything. After a month or so, I don't even need to look at the menu at the bottom of the screen. Now I can select different funtions with the arrow keys at night while the laptop sits in the passenger seat AT NIGHT while I'm cruising along!

Diacom really does grow on you, and you'll end up knowing how to use almost all of the options as second nature. I'd never trade it for anything else.

By the way, Could you ship me one of those LS1 Holden GTS's please??? hehehehhhh. Hell, I'd settle for a Clubsport even!

I wish the US had the ***** to build a V8 RWD 6-speed "family" car like Australia does. Front wheel drive just doesn't cut it in my book.

Thanks for the info Steve,Will send GTS when i receive my 2001 TRANS AM !!!.A GTS is worth about $70000 ,It is going to come out soon in a 2 door .
