cold starting woes
Ok, searched for my problem and nobody else seems to have it lol.
My 86 LG4 doenst like the cold. When it's cold out, the thing will start up real fast after a pump of the gas, but then it dies right away. So I start it again, but this time it wont catch for a few seconds. Then when it finally fires up, I have to rev it myself so it doesnt die again.
That makes me think it's the choke.
But. When it fires up for the first time, even if I hold it at 2500 RPM, it still dies, even when I floor it.
Any ideas?

I would guess that you have already identified the most significant part of the problem - the choke. Make sure it is moving freely, the linkage is not binding, and that the thermostatic spring is set correctly. Pay attention to the high idle cam linkage as well.
