1986 305 stock carb, mods in signature, car is poping out of the exhaust like backfiring not loud, then sometimes out of the carb, timing is okay and stuff, could the valve lash be too tight?

Sounds like the carb needs work. Ususally when that happens the float is stuck.

 

Are you trying to say that you just adjusted the valves and that made it start doing this, and you're not sure you got them set right?

Valves don't tighten themselves. If the motor just commenced this all by itself, it's probably something else.
