Oil Pump Failure
How do you know if your oil pump is needing to be replaced???
I was just driving on the highway at about 65-75 mph and my oil pressure was below 30 where it should be at idle...my check engine soon light was also on...i am thinking that my oil pump might be going out...I have plenty of oil in the engine a little too much as a matter of fact
The engine wasnt overheating or anything but the pressure gauge was awfully low for going that fast...i was at that constant speed for about 20-25 mins...also it is pretty cool outside (not cold) but cool
is this normal pressure flow??? whats up? If i do need a new pump what would be a good high performance brand pump?

Oil pumps dont just "go out". If you take one apart you'd know what I mean. If they go out, they will just not work at all.
Have you verified oil pressure with a mechanical gauge (about 20 dollars from auto parts store)? What is your PSI at idle? I would start with the oil pressure sending unit, replacing that first. They are notorious for being wrong wrong wrong.
After that, if oil PSI shows up low on the mechanical gauge then put a quart of automatic transmission fluid in the car and let it idle for a couple minutes then do a oil change (dont drive the car with that fluid in the car lol).
If problem still persists then it's time to take off the oil pan, and rod caps and check bearing clearances.
Also, having too much oil in the car is almost just as bad as having too little oil in the car. BTW what filter are you using? If Fram then maybe just change your oil and filter with mobil 1.
If you end up having to take off the oil pan then you might as well put a new oil pump in there since yours is probably original, and not optimal (though it probably works just as smooth as the day it was put in the car).
What you'll need for the oil pump (and this combo is proven)
Melling M-55 Oil Pump
Melling M-55A Oil Pump Pickup
Melling M-55SA Oil Pump Driveshaft (lightweight with metal collar)
Mr. Gasket #26 pressure spring
This setup will run you ~30 - 50 dollars.
Best of luck

just had a similar experience with my car. change the sensor first about $20 and youll know right away if thats what it was. the rule is 20psi plus 10 for every 1000 rpm on a cold engine. mine runs a little less when warm.
