Speedometer dying on me....
88 LO3/A4 with a VSS - the speedo keeps dying on me, and when it does, I can feel the T/C unlock. However, by simply banging on top of the dash (yes, that is a GM technically approved repair) - the speedo comes back and the T/C locks back up.
Wiring, sensor, or instrument failure would you guess?

Where's the VSS in 1988? Down on the tranny tailshaft or up behind the gague cluster? If it's up behind the gague cluster I think you've found a likely place to start looking for the problem.

Well, I own an 88 RS, but unfortunately it's the 88 C1500 this time......
What can I say, I like TBI vehicles, lol.
It's in the tailshaft extension housing.
