how to make this thing run!!!!!
how to make this thing run!!!!!
Hi, I have an 84 camaro with a 2.5 that has been modified with a stroker crank, crower 6" rods, Ross Racing pistons, Crane cam, crower push rods, Clifford performance valve springs, and a ported head.
But the engine don't run for more that a couple of hours before it starts making noise. So, then when pull the engine apart I find that both sides of the pistons are scuffed. I have tried Arias pistons also and I always get the same results. I took the car to a garage, and he said that the engine is running lean, and the timing is retaired 25 degrees, but there is no codes in the computer. Does anyone have any ideas on what is wrong with it?
thanks!!!!!!!

wow i'd love to have a 2.5 to play with like your's, but not in a thirdgen f body. i like odd ball stuff, i have a 4.3 in a 85 camaro drag car. for your problem i'd be measuering the pistons and the bore to make sure the clearance isn't excessive. also i'd check the end gaps on the rings and the clearance between the rods and crank for excessive side to side movement. i doubt if running lean would trash a piston in a few hours like you said.
