Strange problem
1. Car only acts up about 1/3 of the time while I am driving. It will come back or quit acting up in the matter of a few miles.
2. When vehicle is acting up my rpms will surge when I pres the cluch down (no foot on gas)
3. The worst of it is when I shift into neutral. I will shift into neutral so I can coast and the rpms will rev anywhere to just over 1000 to 3000, and it wont stop reving until I come to a complete stop. Shifting into a gear somtimes works. Rpms are suposed to go back to idle speed in neutral DAMNIT!
I thought maybe TPS sensor? but I took it in (still under waranty) and they claimed the voltage was ok and that they didnt notice anything wrong when they drove it. Im lost here any help would be great. Oh yeh... this is on my 2000 5 spd sonoma not my Z28, sorry Im posting here, but the people on the s10 board seem to be a bunch of yahoos with dreams of making a 2.2L truck motor fast
and they havent answered me.

I would check for a vacuum leak, and your IAC motor. Take it out and make sure the pintle and the seat are carbon free and clean. ALso make sure that the motor is moving/actuating when the PCM sends a signal to it.

well, I dont think it is the IAC. I cleaned it out and its still happening. I dont think its an electronic throttle (there apears to be a throttle cable that goes from the TB to the peddle. This is just VERY strange. Its almost like i have me foot on the gas. If things are acting up and I downshift the the car doesnt want to slow down. Let me know if I am wrong but, i dont think it could be a vacuum leak or it would do it all of the time and there would be an erratic idle not a smooth rev.

Try replacing the throttle return spring and spraying some cleaneer and then relubing the throttle blade spring area on the driver's side of the throttle body. Maybe open the throttle plates and wipe out the air flow areas, something could be hanging up the throttle.....
