Different Horsepower Ratings??
Different Horsepower Ratings??
I have searched the NET high and low and I have had conflicting reports everywhere and would like someone with vast knowledge to set me straight I have an 89 GTA 350 with N10 dual cats and I have seen people say that GTA's in 89 have 225hp and 235hp (with dual cat) other sites, say that it is 230hp and 240hp(dual cats) same as Camaro's. I assume it is the same as the Camaro because the drivetrains have been almost identical since 82. Can someone set me straight please.

225hp, 235hp(dual cat) due to the more restrictive air cleaner assembly. The TPI firebirds were 10hp less than the Camaro from 85-87, and 5hp less from 88-92 because of a revised air intake for the Firebird in 88', but it was still inferior to the Camaro's.

Thanks for clearing that up!!!
Would going to the SLP cold air induction kit (single) bring it up to Camaro specs or better??? Has any one used this or had good bad results with it?

Since you have an 89', you already have most of what the SLP kit comes with. All I did was get rid of the stock canister and put a K&N conical filter in it's place. Use some black RTV and a hose clamp. Also, I made a sheet metal wall to block the hot air. That will get you it to the Camaro specs. Also, you can buy just the filter and the fender adapter from SLP for around $90, which would give you the SLP setup since you already have the ducting.

I'd check the GTA source page for a sure answer if you want a net answer...
From the 1989 Pontiac sales brochure:
"5.7L V8 High Output with Tuned Port Fuel Injection: 225 hp, 325 lbs-ft torque in Trans Am and GTA; 235 hp and 330 lbs-ft torque in Formula."
Seeing as how the Formulas had the N10 that year...

Thanks I think I will go with the SLP cold air box only and K&N.
