Poly Engine Mounts
Poly Engine Mounts
I'm in the planning process of dropping my 383 into an 87 Camaro and began to wonder about motor mounts.
Are the Poly mounts an important considration and what is the big advantage?

they're pretty much bullet proof. considering how easy it is to change mounts without the engine in i'd put the poly mounts in, i did in my 85.

Well, it's a good idea to replace your stock mounts, especially if the car has alot of years and miles on it. I put in poly mounts on my 85, the car only had 74K miles on it but the rubber had aged and was sagging and cracking.

poly mounts kick a**
they definately helped my shift kit kick in alot harder ( I also have a poly trans mount )
vibration suppression is just as good as the stock rubber ones too.
I figure "why not"

Definately change em out. Figured I would throw in my 2 cents here also. If your engine is out now, its a must do thing. Its a million times easier now then it will be if the motor is there. Just the insurance that they'll never let you down is good enough! I used energy susp. poly mounts when I had my motor out and I am really glad I did now. You have to drill the fasteners out on each clamshell and use the existing metal piece. Be careful not to bend them if putting them in a vise, if they are altered the protrusions will not sit properly on the clamshells and the mount will not be installed correct.
