Could this be the Oil-Pump?
My camaro has always had lifter noise since I've owned it(4 years). Well now here's a new noise. I tried to start it a couple days ago early in the morning & it was almost like the engine was siezed, wouldn't crank. I put in some 'Power Punch' & it got the engine running. Although it has very loud knock that gets louder and faster as the RPM's increase. To avoid further damage I shut off the motor.
I'm not exactly sure what the problem could be, it was running fine the day before. Could it be some top-end damage, bottom-end damage, or maybe the oil pump. I think it could be the later.
Any suggestions before I decide to get a new motor?
Thanks, Joe

Oil pumps rarely just "go out" All they are are 2 gears that spin around and pump oil in and out. Nothing critical of the sort.
What's the oil pressure? Could be bottom end damage, could be something hitting something. How long has it been since it's been fired (previous to this)? Try probing around with a length of heater hose (one end in the ear, use it like a stethoscope) and try to locate the origin of the sound.

sounds like Main bearings actually...
but like Stekman said, there's no point in doing a guessing game, knocking can be from a lot of things, a broken flexplate (which would explain why it was hard to start), a stuck valve, bearings galore....
do the heater hose trick, and see where that gets you.
