I'm looking for a new or rebuilt alternator to replace the stock GM one in my 92 Camaro. Offhand, does anyone know the rating of the stock GM one in the car? I'm looking to be thrifty and get a more powerful alternator so I can run under drive pulleys and my stereo system (500 watt amp) at the same time; this will have a 1 farad capacitor as well. Anyways, any ideas, links, or anything else? Thanks in advance.

look at a Jeg's or Summit catalog. Both have quite a few high output alternators. Prices have quite a range looks like $85 to around $150. also your local hi performance parts house should be able to set you up.
