thermostat housing bolts to long?

ok so i swapped my stock intake manifold for the edelbrock high-flow.

when all was together. i started the motor and coolant sprayed everywhere, i discovered the thermostat housing was not tight, but the bolts were tight, i pulled both bolts and they are the same length, exact same bolts i pulled out of my stock manifold.

is their a reason these bolts dont fit into this aftermarket intake?

it is too late now to go pick up new bolts, though i will in the morning, slightly shorter of coarse

but just curious if thiers a reason for this.

Depending on how much free play there is, just toss a set of washers on there or something.
