Gutted MAF

I have been wondering if my camaro would benefit from gutting the MAF or would this just cause problems? How much of a horsepower gain can I expect?

I suggest removing the screens only. I gutted my MAF per TPIS instructions and ran into problems with stalling and hard starting during hot weather. No problems with a new MAF and screens removed for several years now.

Unless your 305 is running at 6,800 RPM, the stock MAF should be able to deliver more than enough flow. It is marginal on a lightly modified 350, but a 305 rarely needs more flow than the stock MAF can provide.

If you just can't stand it and feel the need to remove the screens, just be careful. You'll be hacking on a $455.00 (OEM) component.

If you want more flow, buy a Wells SU 145 MAF sensor for 180$.
