Hello all, I own a 88 GTA, but I have some ? about my other car (winter beater). Hope I'm in the right board and you can help...

It's a 1992 Pontiac Sunbird Coupe... The VIN (1G2JB11T0N7547558) says it's a 3.1L V6 I think. Why do I have a 2.0L under the hood? I don't understand why, because it would have cost less to change only the 3.1L engine if it was defective no? Putting a 2.0L require another transmission and some other stuff right?

The main problem I have right now, is that the air that is blow inside is real cold, can't get it to warm. My engine temp needle stay between the begining and the 1/4 (sometimes it goes near the 1/2 mark but it doesn't touch it). Is it normal? Maybe they keep the V6 radiator and it is cooling to much?

I have replaced the thermostat with no success...

Sorry for my bad english, I speak french normally.

Thanks!

Bad english, i don't see it infact its some of the best on here.

As for your heat problems check and see if you have two hoses that come from the water pump intake and go to the firewall of the passenger side. If somebody swapped motor, they might not have done the heater core hoses.

You might also want to get a chilton's or haynes manual for the car, it will help a lot in the long run.

I will look for that when it is a littler warmer outside. Thanks for the tip. Anyone else have ideas?

Given that Sunbirds aren't third gens, plan on this being locked soon.

The signal:noise ratio here is what makes thirdgen.org nicer than most other boards with the riff-raff yapping about their other cars.
