Green,
57 has the right idea - search the message archives. Whatever you write, make certain you stress the safety aspect above all else. Warn about the potential for hot oil, parts, using the correct lifting and supporting means, and washing away the contaminated oil from skin and clothing afterward. You might as well get another gold star and outline the environmentally correct method for used oil disposal.

Anyway, I live in Livonia and your welcome to my paper if I can find it. If its not too late, e-mail me at DunawayD@twmi.rr.com Hope this helps you out.

Same here, didn't mean to come off rude, I figured he/she knew how to do it, but was trying to save some work.

At first I wasn't going to respond because I too thought that the post was a joke, but then after reading the above posts, I remember that what is easy or simple to me may not be for someone else.
I recall the previous post about changing the oil, and if I remember right, I don't believe the following points were made, so I'll include them here.
When I change my oil, I first make sure that the oil is at least warm (or hot if you can remove the plug without letting the hot oil spill on your skin). The oil will flow easier and faster.
Then I use a floor jack and put a jack stand under one wheel (lower arm), remove the drain, remove the jack stand and lower the car. I do this because I can get more oil out of the oil pan when it's lowered.
Some may disagree, but I fill my oil filter with fresh oil before installing it. The reason is because if it was empty, then it would take longer for the engine to develop full oil pressure. As you probably know, operating an engine without the proper oil pressure is bad. Since an empty filter will only take 2-4 seconds to fill up, it could probably be correctly said that that will do no harm to the engine. I've just gotten into the habit of doing it. If I'm going to error, I'll error on the side of safety.
If you've never changed the oil yourself, I'd recommend you do it before writing your paper. Experience, even if it's only once, will help you a lot with your paper.
Good luck.
