Free mods and peanut cam???
What exactly are "free mods"? I see lots of people mention them in their mod sections of their signatures.
Also, I understand that some of the thirdgen F-bods came equipped with the "peanut" cam. What exactly was the bad thing about the peanut cam and what years was it included on the birds.
Thanks!

Free mods are stuff that is free, or real cheap. Like bypassing the TB coolant lines to the TB, cut airboxes, and to a lesser extent porting the plenum (or for TBI, ultimate TBI mods)...read/search around on the boards and you'll find 'em.
The peanut cam is one of the nicer names we have for the pathetic cam grind that disgraced many (most) GM V8s. It got it's start in the smogger engines of the 70s, and came through basically the same into the LG4s, then in 86 they disgraced the TPI w/ it (leaving it in all TPI A4s until at least 1990), and of course the TBI cars have it too. Basically it's the worst cam grind ever made for a SBC and has absolutely no performace potential or value.

- Definitely prototypes, high powered mutants of some kind. Too weird to live, too cool to die
