ZZ4 Shortblock Questions?
Is the ZZ4 shortblock set up the same as the L98? What I mean is...Are the pushrods the same length, will i need a cam buttom, or anything else? If anyone has done this coversion, let me know any of the differences between the motors, besides the 4 bolt main and the steel crank. Thanks.

The ZZ4 and L98 used the same block casting. There aren't any other significant differences with regard to setting them up.
PM rods, hypereutectic pistons, and oil baffle are about all that's left - along with cam & heads, of course.

The L98 that was third gen. equipped is 2 bolt mains, ZZ4 is 4. Minor difference, just clarifying. Not that it matters in the selection of actual components....

He indicated he knew the ZZ4 was 4-bolt main, which I assumed meant he knew the L98 was 2-bolt main.
I had actually started to list all of the differences, then pared it down to what you see.

Can I use the same timing cover without needing a cam button, and can i use the same oem style lifters?
Un-related, is the stock distrubuter have a cast iron gear, because the LPE 219 cam has a cast iron gear?

Factory roller cams are retained by a plate that is bolted to the block. No button required.
Factory roller cam equiped engines use a "melonized" distributor drive gear. It has an anti-wear surface treatment.
